There is nothing more attention-grabbing than seeing an image of a structure up in flames on the front of a newspaper! At first sight, the image provoked shock, concern and curiosity. Soon I was engrossed in the words that supported the stunning photo.
AfrikaBurn is an art festival held annually in the Karoo. It creates a unique opportunity for people from all walks of life to self-express, be self-reliant and to operate in a non-commercial environment. A temporary community is created for a few days. There is nothing for sale and nothing to buy. It is gift-based and giving without expecting anything goes without saying. You arrive with your 'stuff' and leave with no trace.
AfrikaBurn is an organisation run by an NPO (non-profit organisation).
